An isolated amplifier senses a small differential voltage on a shunt in a high-voltage domain and reproduces it on the low-voltage side with the isolation in between, so a controller can measure the current of a motor phase or a dc bus without a direct connection, and the NOVOSENSE parts use the same capacitive isolation technology as the digital isolators for a good accuracy and a high common-mode transient immunity. An isolated gate driver takes a logic signal from the controller and drives the gate of a power transistor, sourcing and sinking a peak current of several amps with a fast propagation delay and a robust common-mode transient immunity, so it protects the controller from the switching noise and keeps the switching clean. The devices come in small SOW and DUB packages and the automotive-grade parts are qualified to AEC-Q100.
